Definition : Prevention of natural hazards

Prevention of natural hazards : A natural hazard refers to the risk of exposure to natural disasters or to construction hazards in relation to unanticipated natural unknowns. The natural risk generally takes into account both a natural phenomenon, like a flood, a fire, a storm, a mudslide, an earthquake…, and human vulnerability resulting from inhabited or man-used locations which are likely to be altered or destroyed in the event of a natural hazard.
